Appeals Guidelines & Information

This is a thread containing guidelines and information for those who decide to appeal their punishments. It will contain information about appealing mutes, bans and blacklists as well as guilty and not guilty appeals.

You may find a list of our Network Rules here: https://invadedlands.net/threads/network-rules.48/

Appealing Mutes

For anyone who decides to appeal their mute, these are a list of things that you should keep in mind when appealing. You may appeal your mute here.

  • If you wish to appeal your mute, this should be appealed in the Ban Appeals section.
  • If your mute is temporary and you are guilty of the rule you broke, then you may not appeal this mute.
  • If the mute occurred as your account was in the hands of someone else, you will be held responsible for any actions that happen on your account.
  • If you are appealing a permanent mute and you have already received a reduced mute in the past, you are not eligible to receive a second reduced mute.
  • If you are appealing a permanent mute, you should wait at least 1 month before appealing your mute; depending on the severity of your offenses, you may be instructed to wait 2 or 3 months to appeal.
  • Follow instructions given to you on an appeal (eg. if you were told to wait until a specific date, don't appeal until that date). Not following instructions given may hurt your chances of having your mute reduced in future appeals.

Appealing Bans

For anyone who decides to appeal their ban, these are a list of things that you should keep in mind when appealing. You may appeal your ban here.

  • If your ban is temporary and you are guilty of the rule you broke, then you may not appeal this ban.
  • If the ban occurred as your account was in the hands of someone else, you will be held responsible for any actions that happen on your account.
  • Appeals regarding punishments made in our Discord server should be appealed in the Ban Appeals section.
  • If you are appealing a permanent ban and you have already received a reduced ban in the past, you are only eligible to appeal again once 6 months has passed since your most recent ban. After your second ban reduce, you will not receive any more reductions under any circumstances.
  • If your appeal has already been handled (eg. your ban for cheating was handled), do not create further appeals regarding that punishment.
  • Appeals must come from the owner of the account unless the owner of the account is unable to create an appeal for some reason, then prior arrangements can be made with a staff member.
  • Follow instructions given to you on an appeal (eg. if you were told to wait until a specific date, don't appeal until that date). Not following instructions given may hurt your chances of having your ban reduced in future appeals.
  • Keep in mind that decisions made regarding ban appeals are final and cannot be argued. Please do not message moderators, create a forum post in regards to your denied ban appeal or submit additional appeals. Those messages will either be ignored or be directed here.
  • Please do not message staff or link staff your appeal and ask us to review it. The message will be ignored or you will be directed to this thread. It also may result in your appeal being instantly denied.

Appealing Blacklists

For anyone who decides to appeal their blacklist, these are a list of things that you should keep in mind when appealing. You may appeal your blacklist here.

  • If your blacklist is temporary and you are guilty of the rule you broke, then you may not appeal this blacklist.
  • Follow instructions given to you on an appeal (eg. if you were told to wait until a specific date, don't appeal until that date). Not following instructions given may hurt your chances of having your blacklist reduced in future appeals.
  • Appeals must come from the owner of the account unless the owner of the account is unable to create an appeal for some reason, then arrangements must be made with a Senior Moderator or above.
  • We do not unlink accounts if neither account is blacklisted, so please do not submit appeals or message staff members asking for an unlink.
  • If your blacklist was related to Illegal Affairs (DDoS Threats/Actions, Dox Threats/Actions, Leaking IPs/Information etc) then you should wait around 2-3 months before appealing this punishment.
  • If your blacklist contains a [DI] or is related to a chargeback, then it can only be handled by a Manager. Senior Moderators or Admins cannot make a decision on these punishments.
  • Please do not message staff or link staff your appeal and ask us to review it. The message will be ignored or you will be directed to this thread. It also may result in your appeal being instantly denied.

Things to Avoid When Appealing
  • Messaging a staff member to review your appeal
  • Linking your appeal to a staff member asking them to review
  • Personally attacking staff member publicly or privately threatening staff member to lift your punishment
  • Making appeals on the wrong section
  • Making a public thread complaining about staff's decision or complaining about your punishment
  • Bumping your appeals (doing this results in your appeal being sent to the end of the queue)

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I have to wait for my appeal to be reviewed?
The majority of Ban Appeals are handled within 24 hours, though some appeals can take longer depending on the circumstances. Blacklist Appeals tend to take longer to be handled, especially those that are labeled "Chargeback", "DI" & "Escalated". We do try our best to handle appeals as quickly as we can.

What does "Escalated" mean in appeal?
This means that the staff who responded to your appeal has forwarded your appeal to a higher staff member's review.

I was not cheating, why my appeal was denied?
If you were denied by an admin or a manager, the decision is final. Administration team has checked your logs and determined that you were cheating. Although you may not be directly cheating, there is a chance that you've used an illegal modification or unfair advantage.

Can I appeal for a temporary punishment?
You are allowed to appeal a temporary punishment, but be prepared to provide sufficient evidence that the punishment was false. Those appeals often get denied mainly due to the fact that the punishment is justified, or your punishment had expired by the time the appeal was reviewed.

Any additional questions?
If you have any questions regarding an appeal, you may message a staff member via Discord or through a forum conversation. Alternatively, you can post your question in the Community Help section and members of the community as well as staff members will get back to you there.
