Below is an overview of the staff application process along with the requirements and tips for becoming a staff member on InvadedLands.

Staff Application Process
This section explains the process you will go through to become a Trainee and then a full Moderator on InvadedLands.

Step 1: Application Stage

Apply for staff here: Staff Applications

If you meet all of the requirements, you may submit your staff application and wait for a response. Keep in mind that the following is expected of all applicants whilst your application is pending:
  • Consistent activity in-game
  • No rules violations on any InvadedLands platform
If you do not meet the application requirements or you are otherwise deemed not acceptable to be a staff member on InvadedLands, your application will be denied and you will be given a reason why. You must wait until the next season to re-apply.

If your application is accepted, you will move on to Step 2.

Step 2: Interview Stage

If your application is accepted, you will be given the "Pending" role in the InvadedLands Discord which gives you access to the #pending channel. This channel will be used by Management to communicate with the pending applicants and coordinate times to perform the verbal staff interview.

In the interview, you will be asked a series of questions and are expected to answer them immediately and honestly. This is so we know how you can answer questions in the heat of the moment rather than when you can take your time to write out a perfect answer in an application. The "on-the-spot" nature of the interview is also very indicative of your ability to make decisions in-game, such as determining how/when to punish a player breaking the rules.

If you fail the interview stage, you will be informed via a direct message from a Manager, and as with denied applicants, you will be allowed to apply again next season. If you pass the Interview Stage, you will move on to Step 3.

Step 3: Trial Stage

The trial stage will last approximately 2 weeks from the date you pass the interview. During this period, you will be a "Trainee" (Trial-Moderator) on InvadedLands. This stage is to assess your activity and ability as a moderator to determine if you are suitable for a full-time position on the staff team.

You are expected to assist players, handle certain Player Reports, and moderate the chat. During this stage it is very important to remain active, get to know the community better, and do your job well! If you do well enough and have very little to no false punishments, then you will become a full Moderator. You must record evidence for all of your issued punishments and for any offense that must be reported to a higher-up staff member. Numerous false punishments, inactivity and/or immaturity will result in a demotion. If you are demoted, you will be allowed to reapply next season.

Application Requirements

Note: All of these requirements are to be met otherwise your application will be denied without consideration, missing even 1 of these requirements will result in your application being denied. Keep in mind that simply meeting all of these requirements does not guarantee that your application will be accepted.
  • You must be able to record videos & screenshots of cheaters/rule breakers at a reasonable frame rate and quality. (Minimum: 720p @ 30FPS)
  • You must have a working microphone and be able to speak with us during the interview and in staff meetings.
  • You must be an active part of the server for at least 3 months.
  • You must have some past staff experience (detecting and banning cheaters, muting/kicking, etc).
  • You must put a high level of effort into your application; simple 1-2 sentence answers for responses that are expected to be much longer will result in your application being denied.
  • You must be honest in your application (provide details and valid proof of past staff experiences).
  • You must not ask any staff member to review your application before or after submitting it. As mentioned, all applications will be viewed in due course, so please be patient and wait for your app to be reviewed. Asking or bumping a staff member to review your application will result in it being immediately denied.
  • You must have no more than 1 mutes in the past 1 month of applying.
  • You must not have been banned or blacklisted within the past 6 months of applying.
  • You must be 15 years of age or older. This requirement is put in place to ensure a higher level of maturity amongst applicants; if you do not meet the age requirement, please wait until you do before applying for staff. We research to determine if you meet the age limit, lying about your age does not increase your chances of becoming staff.
  • You must not be affiliated with players or groups who are blacklisted or otherwise considered to be problematic on the server.
  • You must not share your Minecraft/forums/discord account with anyone else
  • You must not use generative AI in your application.

The following is a list of traits that can help your chances of becoming a staff member on InvadedLands, however, they are not required:
  • Be active on the forums, reporting rule breakers, and helping out others
  • Be highly active in-game, more than the average player
  • Be a part of the server for over 6 months
  • Have no past chat offenses, bans or blacklists
  • Get to know any of our current staff members, it's easier to hire a friend than a stranger
  • Be active on our Discord server
  • Be 16 years of age or older

Tips
Below are some tips to keep in mind when writing your application:
  • Take your time when writing your application: No bonus points are awarded for submitting your application on the first day, so please take your time to formulate well-thought-out responses that accurately reflect you.
  • Be true to yourself: Don't simply try to write the responses that you expect us to want to hear; we would much rather see your true self and true abilities.
  • Avoid selling yourself short: It's never a good idea to display a lack of confidence (i.e. "This application will probably be denied, but it's worth a shot"), so be confident and aim high with your apps.
  • Explain any past punishments: We fully expect that several of our applicants may have some past punishments on the network, and provided that they fit the criteria above with regards to mutes, bans and blacklists, we expect that you explain your past punishments and what you have learned from them rather than attempting to avoid mentioning them. Remember, we highly value honesty and self-assessment in your application.
  • Proofread: Applications that are littered with spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors come across as unprofessional and indicate that you rushed through your application. While we do not expect perfect spelling and grammar, please attempt to proofread and correct as many errors as you can find before submitting your application.
  • Address previous feedback: If your application from a previous season was denied and you were given feedback from the staff member who denied it, take that feedback into account when re-applying. (For example: If you were denied for immaturity, it would be wise to address how you have become more mature since the last time you applied.)
  • Stand out: Show us what sets you apart from the other applicants (skills, experience, communication, real-life experiences. etc)- give us a reason to choose you.

If you have any questions about the application process or any of the requirements, feel free to directly reach out to a staff member. Best of luck with your applications!
