No, its because people show an incredible amount of bias whenever they are in an argument or in a heated conversation whereas you get 10v1ed for absolutely no reason even if it isn't their fight to win.

You're more likely to show similar behavior to people you hang around with more often than a random stranger because people you know can affect you more quick than usual
