Now onto the modern day we have cruella, a spin off of one of dinseys most iconic villains turned anti-hero according to this movie or at least frames it out to be, continued
It’s too self-indulgent, too caught up in it’s own message to enjoy itself, too caught up in what they wanted for the protagonist. It’s also far too long, you could cut out at least 20m of footage and lose nothing of value. Emma Stone and Emma Thompson command the screen in a really good fashion delivering solid performances across the board, if only Emma Stone knew what she was signing up for..
It’s plot is incoherent at times rambling on about things that aren’t very important to the story, Estella adopts the personality of Cruella, a anti-hero who wants revenge for the untimely death of her parents, staging public stunts to draw everybody away from Hellman, thrilling stuff. Cruella doesn’t really grow in this movie, she is still the same greedy narcissistic woman she told herself
She wouldn’t become and I got myself thinking what was the point, clearly the writers don’t care so why should I? Overall cruella is too self obsessed in it’s own message it becomes a joke after a while, that again tries to reinvent a villain as some misunderstood badass, it didn’t work in magnificent so it should totally not work with a woman who murders puppies and uses them for making coats, nice job disney.
