Was the way management handled the leak appropriate?

So many of you know that the new kitpvp map got leaked. Most of the people that posted threads linking to a video about it got forum banned. Now I don't know if Lumbrub got warned that he was going to get forum banned if they posted the video when they got kicked. If he did then I guess it's justified and if they weren't well then it just ties into what I'm about to say next. A lot of the people who posted the video just got outright forum banned. They were never given a warning that they were getting banned as far as I know. If any staff can confirm that they were warned then I'll just delete this and walk away in shame. However all the evidence I have leads me to believe that most people who got banned were never warned. To me this seems way to harsh when they would have had NO way of knowing that they were going to get forum banned. And last time I checked I'm pretty sure there's no specific rule about this. This just ties into the fact that there aren't strict punishment guidelines staff have to follow so when something like this happens management can just simply make their own punishment. Frankly I find the fact that they were never warned and straight out banned too harsh. Reset was fairly soon anyways and at the end of the day it's just a map we were going to see it soon. Again I'm basing the fact that they were never warned on pure speculation and incomplete evidence if any staff would like to confirm if they were given warnings that would be great. In conclusion it feels like management just tried to sweep it under a rug and set the people that got banned as an example instead of warning the people and openly making a statement about it. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough communication between management and the community. It took Mcdonald's thread with over 10k views just to get a response from management. If this gets deleted or locked it's just proving my point even more.
