My rule of thumb to follow when stuff like this happens is if it seems too good to be true, it is.
I was once planning to do an IRL deal with someone for 7 mil. They said that they’d let me get it for 6 mil, which is a very good price for the item. However, they asked for half of it before they bought it. They were obviously trying to scam, since you never go first in IRL deals. Even though they were offering a very good price, I turned them down, because it was too good to be true. It was obviously a scam.
