Just appeal if you have been falsely banned, and if your appeal has been denied, you were most likely cheating.

Honestly I got banned one time and it legit took like 5 months for it to be reviewed and for me to be unbanned, that was the old forums tho, does it still take that long?

It really depends, but from what I know false bans can take quite quick to be resolved.
