"Mirai is malware that infects smart devices that run on ARC processors, turning them into a network of remotely controlled bots or "zombies". This network of bots, called a botnet, is often used to launch DDoS attacks."
This could be VERY bad. Lets just hope that the server is backed up, since we could see a lot of lag and potential whitelists of the server soon.
I remember watching a video about the creator, who used it to DDOS minecraft servers and made millions by creating both the botnet and botnet protection. He later was arrested by the US, but the software still lives.
It would work by other servers paying him to DDOS their competitors, then he would go to that server and ask ransom for the protection, and would repeat this and make a ton of money.
