How do I avoid getting ddosed

Your IP address can only tell the region in which you live. Like your city or state but not your actual IRL address. also many ISP's change the location of your IP so it's not where you actually live. For example my IP says I live in Atlanta which I don't

it's impossible to grab somebodies IP via a discord call, you most likely clicked a link or something before

First of all, don't go log onto any minecraft servers that you don't trust, or don't click on links that you don't trust. Second of all, try changing your ip address by contacting your internet provider, or you can search up how to change your ip address linked to your internet provider. Personally, these tips have helped me out.
