Nickname Suggestion

Nicknames. KitPvP, Survival, and Skyblock all have them. As you probably know, it is somewhat of a process to find out what a nicked person's ign is. You have to do /realname, but if they have a 1 letter nick, it makes it hard to find. As well as that, its a long command. Let's say someone broke a chat rule as a nicked person, and quickly unnicked so people could not know who did the chat offense, with sufficient proof. There has already been suggestions about nick being used to escape punishment, but I have some ideas on how to eliminate nicks being used to escape punishment.

Idea 1: /nickhide
/nickhide would make it so people who are nicked, it would show their ign instead of their nicked name. In other words, they wouldn't show up as having a nick on your screen

Idea 2: Hovering over it
You know how you can hover over the "Click here to join" for events and it will pull up text that says that? What if when you hovered over the " * " symbol and it would show their ign? It seems like it could be possible, but it does seem difficult

Idea 3: Shorten the /realname command to /rn
When people abuse the nick, they usually unnick right away, but the /nick (ur ign) is a longer command. people can also type it beforehand and copy and paste it, but there is a chance that you can be able to /rn them.

The suggestion tab is going to be opened again. I think waiting until the dedicated area for making suggestions is opened again rather than just making threads is a good idea.

I like the suggestion tho +1

i'd probs forget about it before the tab is opened again, and I'm not writing like a google doc cause I'm lazy. when suggestions open ill just ask someone to move it

When people nick, its unexpected and either way you aren't going to have the reflex to type /rn really fast, as theyd have a copy and paste ready of the /unnick command. You won't even expect it, but it'd be nice to add the abbreviation /rn so when you do expect it you can get them banned with solid evidence

also its always good to have shorter versions of commands, i couldn't imagine having to type /reply to everyone who msgs me, or /toggleprivatemessages instead of /tpm

essentials nick moment

fr tho literally just make a /shownicks command for mods that would remove everyone's nicknames in chat

this isnt possible w/ essentials nick but easy to do w/ a custom system

so it removes the purpose of nicking is what your saying? also Staff can see nicked players and see there real ign

it would be easier to find out who said what message by not showing nicknames on YOUR screen, this would not disable nicks for everyone, only for people who did that command. idrk what ur trying to say, as this doesn't "remove the point of nicking". if you could explain in ur opinion the point of nicking is, so i can address how it does not "remove the purpose" of nicking

if people can type a command to disable the feature of /nick whats the point of having it. and i know that you have to type a command to see nicks biut still

because not everyone will do that command

  • because some people dont want to see other peoples nicks
  • because it is harder to report someone for chat offenses if they are nicked
  • because it is harder to find out who is messaging you
chat messages are logged and mods can see peoples nicks anyways

Dang! +1 Gonna have to go with the second option, though. Hovering over someone's name is far easier than typing a command. But, as you said, may be too much work. :D

but they can in that instance removing the purpose of the /nick command(which you have to purchase btws)
i don’t see a problem with this because the majority of the server won’t have this toggled

Not really, it comes in a package with a lot of other stuff. Also, yes it removes the purpose of /nick but /nick isn't really needed. And only a small amount would even know the command exists, considering they don't announce when new commands are implimented

ok so why not remove /nick

Because some people want their nick to show for aesthetical reasoning. As I said, only a small amount would even know the command even exists. This doesn't make it so EVERY SINGLE PERSON has to see their full ign, just people who want to. I know the majority of people would just want to keep nicks on when viewing chat. However, some people would like to be able to see their real ign. It is just a simplified way of /realname.

I like this idea a lot, I've seen people use /nick to bypass or get away with saying inappropriate stuff, and it would be an interesting addition.

This. I mean I only use /nick for being MusicDiscs while my ign is Montgomery so meh.
