Locking posts

I mean it seems like he's socializing with staff a lot so it wouldn't surprise me if they made an exception for him. Still not the most mature person I'd say.

1Pick literally says on every post @staff ? I know someone already posted about this yesterday but staff have a lot better things to do then just go on posts and lock them this is why ban appeals take so long to be checked I feel like.
If a thread follows any of these guidelines, I issue a lock request. I don't just do it for the fun of it cause I could care less. @Nicki has explicitly told me to feel free to tag her to lock threads if needed as well, she even made a statement on twitter when the new forums were created complaining she wasn't getting enough of them.

Other staff also have in their signatures to tag them for locks. I know what I am doing. It is their job to do that, and as far as ban appeals, all staff can handle "Yes, I am guilty" appeals, as they can simply give a reduced punishment without log-checking. Other than that only 3 other staff members can and HAVE to handle "No, I am NOT guilty" appeals as well as blacklist appeals when logs have to be checked. PAGES of appeals for all categories come in every week, and only Zelkam, Mega, and Kobuto can do log checks, and they have to be done if a person pleads not guilty.

If a user follows any of these I tag a staff member:

1) Being toxic for no reason.
2) Post-Boosting.
3) Creating threads about bans/blacklists/mutes.
4) Uselessly tagging staff in threads to get attention.
5) Making threads in the wrong section.
6) Question has already been answered.
7) Causing a disruption in the community.
8) Making threats towards other players or staff.

Now, with this being said and the thread already being answered, I will be requesting a lock @S0V

If logs needed to be checked for something then they don't handle it. It's dependent on situation, but typically the staff don't handle the "No, I am not guilty" appeals as logs would need to be checked.

i mean i used to like you but you've just came to a point where you @ staff for lock even if its an introduction or an off-topic comment, people are starting to dislike you man

Again, if it becomes toxic or useless to the point where people are just commenting to get message points and likes then yes. There is a reason why they lock it, and if I was doing something wrong they wouldn't be locking it. They don't just follow the orders of a player. They do their own investigation and look into it, then determine if it should be locked or not.

I mean who are you to decide when people are posting just to get likes or message points. Unless they specifically ask for likes. Why should you be the judge of what is useful and what is not. Yes you're not directly locking threads and staff will take a look for themselves but you are calling attention to it when it is not really needed. Allow people to have some fun once in a while will ya? As long as the thread is in the right subforum then it doesn't always need to be locked just because you or staff find it relatively useless.

Also sometimes threads get locked when a question is supposedly answered but the owner of the thread hasn't confirmed yet that the answer was actually useful. This will then cause the op to not dare to make a new thread asking the same question again in fear of being spammy if they didn't feel like their question was answered clearly enough. Not all threads that have an answer are really answered. Sometimes it's nice to have multiple perspectives on a problem/issue.

Did you not see the other 6 reasons I gave for locking a thread? That is also a part of the rules on Network Rules. I hope you realize the forums is a mainly player-ran platform, in fact, here's the definition of a forum:

It isn't a place to do useless stuff, be toxic, or anything else I said in my reasoning for requesting a lock.

The fact that I didn't mention the other reasons means I agree with those. That reason being threads being locked for toxicity. Because that falls under the forum rules.

Yes exactly a forums is a place where ideas and views can be exchanged. Who are you to decide which views and ideas are useless. It's free speech after all and if the topic falls under the rule of the subforum then you have no place in deciding what is and what isn't posting messages for likes or posting messages to interact with the community.

There is no rule that says pointless topics aren't allowed. There is a rule that says no spamming of pointless threads. Big difference that you don't seem to recognise.

The fact that the forums is player ran is also wrong. The forums is moderated by staff. They have the permissions. You are just pointing the staff to threads you feel should be locked. That doesn't mean you run the forums.

While it's ultimately the staffs decision of which threads get locked and unlocked you are pointing them out though. But even if the staff agrees that the threads is useless. Shouldn't the forums be just a place where people can interact with each other? Why not let them have fun instead of aggressively trying to lock posts because you consider them pointless.

Now to be clear I agree with most of the threads that were locked by staff. They do their job well. But I find it very annoying when people try to lock the thread when it's not that necessary.

As this thread is going nowhere, I am going to oblige and lock it temporarily, but not because 1pick has asked.

My advice to you @1pick is to tone down your posts, let the moderators do the moderation, we're very good at it - we don't need you to do it for us. We also don't need this sort of argument taking place over what is essentially mini-modding, please don't be overzealous in requesting locks for threads, it's unnecessary.

Thanks so much!
