Even though I'm banned for 30 days, I can still have my own opinion.

Scamming and Irl trading should be bannable.

This is Skeppy's server in the end so naturally, the player base is too young to understand scamming completely.

Scamming in-game money is more devastating depending on how young the child is. There should be some form of punishment for these POS'S

IrL trading should also be not allowed as it can open up a lot of issues with chargebacks and scamming. Say someone is offering a rank for 26m. That person can just exit scam and take the money. Or the buyer can chargeback to get that person banned/blacklisted.

It seems simple in words, just "Make scamming bannable," but it's gonna be REALLY damn hard to enforce. There can be no automated system for scamming, as what counts as scamming is a grey area. In order to enforce and make scamming bannable, for EVERY report made for a person for scamming, a real life person would have to get online and interrogate the person in question. Because their a scammer, they're obviously gonna deny everything and staff really don't have all the perms to just go snooping thru people's things and noclip.

There is some form of mod online at all times now. I disagree this doesn't seem hard to enforce at all. Some are more blatant than others and it's not too tedious to check logs for /msg. Plus player evidence.

For the amount of players on their would be way too many for the few staff online to handle and they would sit in pending for awhile, because imagine if every 5 mins you had to stop what you were doing and go check out someone on a different gamemode. Also, scamming can be outside as well in discord servers, so it would be impossible to enforce there.

I never said anything outside of ingame. Most scams are ingame. Also you would be surprised on how much staff is on. Like I am friends with the cheater on skyblock and he has a cheat called AntiVanish. The mods are always in vanish so I learned my lesson the hard way xd.

that doesnt mean they are always actually online though. im sure a ton of staff are afk at times. determining what is a scam and whats not would be really complicated and take up staffs time when they could be doing other things. i do agree that there are young kids on the server but if they arent old enough to be able to tell whats an obvious scam and whats not they shouldn’t be on the internet in the first place, let alone a multiplayer minecraft server.

see but this server wouldn't exist if the little kids never joined in the first place. Everyone can get scammed if they are caught off-guard

sorta agree with that but the majority of the community and active player base seems to be around the age of 14/15 out of all the people ive talked to. anyone with common sense after getting scammed would just be careful to not fall for that again and be more aware. ive been scammed before and obviously was upset but i got over it lol. its not like i was being scammed for a lot anyways, i get it can be really upsetting as a new player but its really not that big a deal to get scammed out of lets say 1k and not a big enough deal for staff to do anything about that. honestly if you are smart enough to learn how to make a lot of money you should be smart enough to know whats a scam and whats not. if you‘re getting scammed for a lot of money tbh you deserve it

They would have to get a way to enforce it which I belive they will struggle with.

The in-game scamming being an offence argument has been brought to attention countless times before, however it's just not going to happen. the best we can do is inform the impressionable young/newer players.

at the end of the day, it's just a block game.

also for newer players the best way to learn how not to be scammed, is to once get scammed which is most likely going to occur.

Lol I also got a 30 day ban for some bs and irl scamming is allowed at this point they're just banning people to rack up money from paid unbans

Why would you even say that. Your ban is temporary, if they wanted money, they'd perm ban. You were banned for a reason, it you are not guilty you can appeal it

  • If your ban is temporary and you are guilty of the rule you broke, then you may not appeal this ban.

yes, atm they don't understand. but IMO part of the reason scamming should be allowed is that it teaches them to watch out for it. it's better to get scammed for a virtual currency in minecraft and learn about scamming and be more careful then to get scammed for real life money when you're an adult.

yeah at first it's devastating, but it's pixels on a screen and eventually you'll get over it. especially since most people get scammed when they first start playing, it's most likely for a small amount of money and they can bounce back easily.
IrL trading should also be not allowed as it can open up a lot of issues with chargebacks and scamming.
one of the main reasons that i play this server is because they allow irl deals. irl deals allow people who can't spend any money, like me, to get ahead.
Say someone is offering a rank for 26m. That person can just exit scam and take the money.
that's why irl dealer always goes first, and you don't pay until you get the rank. as long as your trades follow this rule, you won't get scammed. in addition, irl scamming is already bannable.
Or the buyer can chargeback to get that person banned/blacklisted.
yes, they could, and i do think that there should be a better way of handling this, because it is a bit unfair. but if you chargeback and the player has enough evidence, i'm fairly certain that they can get you banned.

tl;dr it's better to learn about scamming on a minecraft server then in real life, and once you learn about scamming you don't really fall for it again; and the forms of scamming that affect you irl are already not allowed.

another reason why it should be allowed is that there is too much of a grey area of what scamming is. someone might think selling something overpriced is a scam, and maybe the scammer can just say that the person who got scammed was just donating.

overall, it's easier to make scamming allowed and by doing this, it actually benefits the players.

Personally I've always been against scamming being added to the rules list due to the issue of defining a scam, yes some are obvious but there can be more complex cases such as if you sold an item to a player for more than it is worth in the shop - would this also be classed as scam?

I do however see the benefit of banning scamming, I feel like certain people and their islands will have caused a number of newer players to quit the server after scamming them.

In future I'd recommend posting suggestions in the suggestions section of the forums.

Irl trading should be bannable.

By IRL trading I'm just curious as to what you mean.

Discussing trading in game items for external ranks or money (i.e. paypal) on the server is a mutable offense (solicitation) and if you see someone doing that I recommend that you report them. If someone does a trade like this outside of the server then this is something that would be hard to enforce and the person is doing at their own risk.

Regarding deals for ranks i.e. Giving $2m in game for Legend rank, this is completely allowed. If a player gives in game money for a rank and that person does not buy them the rank then this form of scamming is allowed.

However, if somebody buys a person a rank and that person does not give the in game items they originally offered this is IRL scamming and the person who bought the rank for IRL money can report the person on the forums.

Finally if a buyer chargebacks and gets the other person blacklisted, the person who was blacklisted is able to submit a blacklist appeal (and if they have any, provide evidence) and then higher staff are able to check a few things behind the scenes and that person will be unblacklisted and the person who actually chargedback will be blacklisted instead.

How would you define scamming and put the borderline between scamming and simply wasting time?

yes, atm they don't understand. but IMO part of the reason scamming should be allowed is that it teaches them to watch out for it. it's better to get scammed for a virtual currency in minecraft and learn about scamming and be more careful then to get scammed for real life money when you're an adult.

to be fair there's no 'find the button' in real life but it does get them to not trust everyone blindly

I love being able to think this thread everytime someone makes a thread
And I also made this for scam warps >: )
Also, scamming Ingame money has been suggested many times to be bannable, and also denied many times. The main reasons are that it would be difficult to keep up with the numerous reports, it would be hard to set a fine line to what is and isn’t scamming, and because it helps people for the future know what scams are Ingame and even possibly irl. Overall it’s not that hard to not get scammed.

Edit: just noticed u meant irl deals shouldn’t be allowed as well, and I completely disagree with that because it allows people to get ranks for free with just Ingame currency. It’s a good system that allows a win win for everyone.

Idk I’m not reading everyone’s thing but if the buyer chargesback then just show proof of the deal and get them blacklisted and yourself unblacklisted, it’s always irl person goes first because they can report the person paying in game but not the other way around. This was suggested multiple times and had more cons to be added than pros, so likeee

in game scamming would cause more stress on the staff too ?✌️
some people also scam for fun but give ppls stuff back p.q

here before this gets closed

I don't come on here very often anymore, but if someone isn't mature enough to identify what's a scam and what isn't, they shouldn't be on the internet, let alone InvadedLands, a very harsh/toxic server. No, scamming is not right, but it honestly comes down to the players' maturity level, and learning from others' mistakes.
If scamming was 100% bannable, then it would be extremely tough to actually ban all of the scammers accurately. How do you know if someone was actually scammed, or just made an awful trade but regretted it later?
But the moral of the story here is that it's the players' responsibility to identify whether something sounds suspicious and is a scam or not. It shouldn't come down to staff having to ban 30% of the playerbase just incase an IRL deal is a scam.

TL;DR
its your responsibility whether you get scammed or not, and you shouldnt have to snitch on 40% of the people in chat trying to make an trade whether its irl or not.
