Loki was a show that never caught my eye upon viewing on first glance, Falcon and the Winter soldier proved to be a disaster, lecturing the audience about things we do not care about, awkwardly inserting characters into the show that weren't particularly interesting or even likeable in that matter, after a long and weary six weeks of content my fears were confirmed and my keyboard was already typing my full conclusion, and boy it’s changed my opinion more times than I walked out of my house.
This show was a slog to get though and I say the same thing for the pacing, it’s awful by the way. It’s big and extravagant, taking it’s time to tell us a complex plot that isn’t interesting nor engaging in the slightest, it tells its story in the most boring way conceivable. I think this show is trying to pander to those with insomnia, because I really do see it and if that’s what marvel was going for i’m all in for it.
Loki is barely gets the spotlight in his own show, immediately when loki is introduced, loki is already being made into a pure clown,in the first five minutes of the show once he threatens body positivity woman, sorry major trigger word B-15, he is immediately put in his place and afterwards it goes all downhill from here, and in just the first episode everything that made him such a compelling character is gone and replaced with a better coating if you might will, oh and loki is bi, if I dropped that there that’s what the writers did too, i was hoping mobius becomes cripplied and has to resort to using a wheelchair so we could get some representation for the disabled.
Also props to Sophia Di Martino for delivering such an outstanding performance, marvel really got this one right, she talks and acts like she was handed the script ten seconds before filming and it really shows. The writing and script felt like it was written by a twelve year old. I genuinely felt bad for Tom Hiddleson for having to deliver such atrocious dialogue.
Overall loki is another failed attempt to keep the struggling mcu going, it’s writing quality and overall direction has plummeted over the last few years and it shows, and if it’s any indication to where the mcu is going combine that with a year long gap between movie releases and a absolutely sterling lineup of phase four films and tv shows that everybody is excited about I just can’t see this going wrong.
