If this is for "getting staff purposes" what flitzy said is correct, don't make a thread on the forums, help people in game, say hello to new players, etc.

Alot of people put it in their signature to show they're willing to help out, I don't think it's necessary to make a thread about it when you could just do something similar to that, up to you of course though.
