is it possible to get out of jail without paying or mining?
I once waited until the timer expired in jail and they just kicked me from the jail server to the original server which was the hub. So I think you should just be able to join normally once it expires as I was kicked from the jail server once the timer expired.
How long do you hvave to wait?
Depends on how long the timer is. For me, it was a week ban I think so I just waited a week and I just logged on at like 3 mins left and just waited until the timer hit zero and I just got kicked.
If you have like a perm ban, then you gotta mine out. There should be a timer until your ban expires on your scoreboard.

It would be on the scoreboard middle right of your screen
If you do not see one the chance you have been permabanned is high

Yes, every time you break a block 5 times you recieve 1 jail credit.
You can see the amount of credits you need in your scoreboard
its meant to displine the players and show them punishments and also the scoreboard is wrong in jail tell you rejoin there is a way tho to see how many credits you have without rejoing try to buy a ticket hover over the pass and it will show your real and updated amount
when i got banned it said i got banned for 2 weeks now when i go into jail i dont see a timer on the score board
You keep all of the stuff you had at the time you have been banned
