Skyblock and Survival share in common the following rule, specific to their gamemodes:
  • No auto-farming (using programs such as a console client to automatically issue commands like /sell all)
Only Skyblock has this rule:
  • No AFK mining (weighing down/using a program to mine from a cobble gen)
Only Survival has this rule:
  • No x-raying or auto-mining for ores
Now, one can reasonably assume that whenever a narrow rule exists, it means a broader one that looks like it might cover it on the surface is considered to not actually cover it. In other words, the fact that Skyblock has two different rules for "AFK mining" and "auto farming" means that whoever originally wrote the rules believed that:

- "AFK mining" is NOT the same thing as "auto farming", otherwise "AFK mining" would be redundant
- Thus, there's a material difference between what the rules are on Skyblock and Survival

In addition to that, an obvious justification for banning "AFK mining" exists on Skyblock, while farms that involve "AFK mining" have been widely accepted in vanilla gameplay for over a decade. That would be the extremely powerful oregen that Invaded uses for Skyblock (about 50% of cobble generated on Skyblock becomes some sort of ore, if I remember right) which would be a very overpowered farm if AFK mined.

We know that "AFK mining" and "auto farming" are legally different. What's the physical difference? Well, the state of your computer, let's take whether the mouse is clicked as an example, doesn't change when you are AFK mining. You are simply using tape, a rock, or something like that to hold it in one state without intervention. However, "auto farming" means the state automatically changes: it repeatedly clicks, it automatically sells stuff, or something like that. It doesn't matter how you do it. A servo motor programmed to click your mouse repeatedly is the same idea.

Holding down a mouse button with a rock is useful for things like cobble gens, basalt gens, snow farming, AFK fishing, and other widely acceptable types of farms. It cannot be used to grind mobs automatically or anything like that, which require repeated clicking and therefore a clearly bannable autoclicker, macro, motor, or whatever.

However, some staff appear to believe there is no physical or legal difference. This is ridiculous on its face. Right now, you risk getting banned for using a rock to weigh down your mouse in Survival, which is NOT explicitly banned while it IS in Skyblock.

The fact that a specific rule exists on Skyblock implies, to any reasonable person, that the existence of this rule is necessary to prohibit AFK mining and that the non-existence of this rule on Survival means AFK mining is allowed there.

I am not asking that the rule be re-written. I am simply asking that staff use the obvious interpretation of the rule as it is currently written, which is that AFK mining and other things that only involve holding one state are allowed on Survival and players should face no risk for doing it. It is absolutely trivial to tell the difference between it and an autoclicker; there's no overlap between a rock and an autoclicker in terms of what they are used for.

how abt doing this in prison
You would be using a non-allowed mod, usually that's Baritone, if you wanted to auto-mine in jail, which is a global gameplay rule so they don't need to have a specific thing for it in the Jail rules, and they can blacklist you for it. Just holding your mouse down with a rock won't work, it makes you move to a different coal every time.

The rule against "auto farming" on SB/Surv is meant to more broadly cover stuff like macros, servo motors, etc that are NOT disallowed game modifications. However, it'd be nearly impossible to get non-ingame stuff alone to auto-mine in jail. Even if you somehow did, it would be pretty reasonable for staff to assume you are actually using Baritone.

To be clear, no one's actually been banned for "AFK Mining" on Survival. We just want to be able to build farms that are acceptable in vanilla without fear of blatant staff overreach.

no afk mining

This provision is so slimy that even Invaded staff very rarely use it. Instead, they will attempt to justify the punishment using an interpretation - however ridiculous it may be - of an existing rule. In this case, it's that "auto farming" somehow includes "AFK mining"; my argument is that the very fact that two separate rules exist makes that untrue in black and white.

It effectively means that they can terminate your paid rank by punishing you for any reason at any time, even a reason that you did not agree could be used to do so when you read the rules and bought the rank. That's what makes it unethical to even have that clause.

Here's what Hayech just said he's actually going to do: add the Skyblock rule in writing to Survival. This makes no sense gameplay wise, since Skyblock is not Survival and Survival doesn't use oregen, but it does at least technically justify their crusade to punish players for normal things.
