Maybe you have to cook the food itself. I don't think buying it works.

it does work if you buy it, its just that some items arent in shop. here is a list of everything you need.
~ Cooked Porkchop
~ Cooked Chicken
~ Cooked Fish (only cod)
~ Steak
~ Bread
~ Baked Potato
~ Golden Carrot
~ Cookie
~ Pumpkin Pie
~ Cake
~ Mushroom Stew
~ Golden Apple (not enchanted)
