requesting lock bs

Thing is the people that do this, (me), we're just trying to clear up the forums and make it better for everyone

You're not making it better by trying to lock all the threads. This at most has no impact really. Just let a thread have it's natural course.

I don't try and lock all the threads, only the ones that need to be.
If a thread is more than 3 days old and noone has responded to it. Then you don't need to lock those threads. If a question has been posted and answered but the one that answered the question hasn't said thanks yet or shown that they're satisfied with the answers then the thread doesn't need to be locked. If the question has been answered but there are people still talking about a situation close to the question or that has sprung from the original question then it doesn't need to be locked. It goes on and on. Let people have some fun before trying to lock threads.

I was pretty bad about that for a while, and maybe still am but I definitely agree. I am trying to be better about it, however I would say that when questions get answered, it is appropriate to request a lock (especially if it was your question).

And if things are posted in the wrong section, moving them is fine. I think people overuse requesting locks though, definitely. In many cases, things can and should just take their course.
