Well, only if you have extremely curved vision. Also, if you were to get very far into space, you could still "see" the people on earth from a greater distance than from your scenario. Your scenario is the longest on earth, but it is possible to see someone from infinitely far, as long as you can get there and still see the person, through a telescope or something similar.
