I’ve always wondered why do people say +1 on suggestions instead of just liking it, and optionally watching the thread

Adding a reply with a +1 endorsement and an explanation with why they support the idea gives more of a solid argument to add it rather than a like.

Also, people might just assume that staff members who look over suggestions will generally take the suggestions with more positive replies seriously. On occasion, this can be true. It shows that people support the idea and really want it.

A like is hard to track since people can unlike it, and it really doesn't do anything to back up the suggestion or add any reasonable justification to adding it.
