This post was originally to welcome a lovely boy, an 11 month old snowshoe+ragdoll mix, into our home. I want to preface that I have cared for many abused cats in the past will all types of reactivity problems. Agression, fear, sociability issues, anxiety, ect. This isn't to say Adonis *wasn't* abused, but there was much more than that.

A short time after I made that post, I got a call from the adoption center we got him from; They had a background on him. He had come from a cat hoarding situation, seized / confiscated by animal control. We were urged to surrender him as another male cat, potentially from the same liter as Adonis, was showing increased unprovoked aggression. They are led to believe that this was no longer "just" an abuse case, but one of inbreeding. Inbreeding, especially in male cats, causes extreme aggression very often. Adonis was no different, attacking me multiple times. We gave him space, everything; he wanted love and would come up for it, and then immediately lash out.

We hadn't even introduced him to our other two cats, this wasn't fear; this was aggression.

I do hope that he is able to be rehabilitated and rehomed with someone who loved him as much as I do. Unfortunately, for his safety and my own, he was surrendered late last night. Below are the (somewhat) healed / covered marks from where he attacked me the most. Please note that these marks, while not looking deep, had been dripping blood and are not the only marks I have from him. For reference, the one on the inside of my thumb and the two largest marks have only stopped bleeding this morning, I had bleed through multiple bandages and gauze.

I hope he is able to be turned around, as it's very clear he *wanted* love. There was just too much aggression within him.
