Can anyone explain the ghost islands?

Every once in a while a bunch of random blocks will appear floating not too far from my island. Never the same arrangement.
When I attempt to build out to it, I cannot mine the blocks.

This has happened a few times. Last night, while trying to explore the ghost island next to mine, I was suddenly banned for “cheating”

I put in a van appeal, and it has been escalated, but I have no idea how long these things take.

Can anyone explain what this is all about?

It's the lag, those are chunks that haven't loaded, and lag allows you to actually reach them.

As the person above stated, it’s possible that the chunks were not loaded in. In regard to ur appeal, you are very lucky that your appeal was looked at within less than a day. They usually take a while, and if it’s already been escalated that means a higher up and checking logs and making sure u weren’t cheating.
