claiming land

so like 2 weeks ago, when i first started playing survival, i fell down a ravine and lost my claiming wand (or whatever it's called). and last week i went strip mining and got like 14 diamonds and 5 emeralds and put them in a chest, along with like 46 cooked mutton. today, when i came back, all of that got taken out of my chest. i swear i put them there. any advice? i already did /sethome btw
