After marching into the cinema on a Sunday afternoon, I couldn't wait to see Natasha's last moments in the mcu. The trailer was promising and I predicted it would be a solid rounded movie giving black widow the triumphant sendoff she deserves, but ultimately pointless as we already know the characters fate in Endgame. And I was so very wrong.
This movie is horrendous, it’s amateurish trying to copy winter soldier’s successful formula, and wasting it’s talented cast in the process. The action choreography is bland and clumsy and unimaginative giving us fight scenes we have seen numerous times before in the mcu. The antagonists of this movie are the most forgettable one dimensional characters I have seen in quite some time, and that’s coming from a fine line of marvel villains.
Red guardian is portrayed as pathetic and used for punching gags for the women to have a good laugh at, lovely how every man in this movie is either portrayed as weak self-obsessed assholes that need to be put in their place, imagine if the roles were reversed. The movie tries so hard to be funny, it’s awkward and obvious playing out scenes that don’t necessarily need to be dragged out you could probably cut out twenty minutes and lose absolutely nothing of value, This movie could have been released anyday of the week and it wouldn’t even matter, it didn’t feel like a story begging to be told, it felt forced because they had to make the movie because fans drooled over the prospect of having one.
I didn’t wanna slate this movie for all it’s worth, I wanted to see this movie succeed giving black widow the sendoff she deserves instead of nuking her to oblivion, but what we got was a frustration disappointing action flick that could have been so much more if the material was given to people who were more experienced and weren't talented haks trying in vain to be something it isn’t.
