It's a thing everyone has seen, people are not getting their appeals and unbans reviewed. It is an issue that frustrates a ton of players on Invadedlands. There are so many unbans and blacklist appeals that staff take a long time reviewing all of them. I thought of an idea in which there can be forums managers and staff members that review those appeals since staff members might have some trouble. The main purpose of forum staff is to stay active on the forums and help other players out while reviewing appeals and reports. Staff applications are meant for staff members. Maybe we could set up a system of forum managers to help the staff with the appeals. Also, if an appeal is accepted, they should contact a staff member for further action. I've seen it on other servers and I feel this might be a good server to try it on. What do you all think?

Making more applications is not really what Invaded needs; the staff are already pressured to do so much that adding more applications would not be beneficial

Gonna have to disagree with you on this one, things like appeals and reports should be kept solely in the server staff team's hands.
They should just add more staff, if understaffing is the problem.

Its not that simple to "just add more staff"

Why not? They're understaffed and they should be able to fix it.

Invaded looks for the best in their staff members, becoming a staff member is a strenuous process as they only want the best to represent their server. People were just interviewed today and yesterday for the trainee position and will likely start their trainee period tomorrow or Sunday. To add, if they added more staff members it wouldn't necessarily make ban / balcklist appeals go any faster as for most cases in those appeals you must have signed the NDA to be able to handle them.

I see how it's a long process to interview for and train staff, but it's not really that hard.
I also don't see why staff need to sign NDAs to review appeals and reports.

Staff who handle things such as ban appeals (unless the player is admitting) and blacklists have to sign NDA's because to handle these appeals they need to be able to access NDA'd information. Thats why its not as easy as just saying "hire more staff" because that wont fix the main issue. All we can do for now is be patient and let the staff who can handle these things, handle them whenever they are able to.

I don't think you understand how much of everything is needed to mantaing a server the size of Invaded. Granted you must be fairly new to the server/forums as you don't know what the NDA is. Basically to protect all of the code TehNeon hand writes and NDA is in place that you have to sign by to be granted console access; therefore, minimal amount of staff (3) have access to console due to the fact that there are laws on signing an NDA (EG: Age). Most appeals require console to be dealt with resulting in why it takes so long for appeals.

That would make everything exponentially more complicated.

Yes, appeals tend to take awhile, but there were many reasons as to why. Having this new forums site should make the process much faster. There are significantly less fake/troll appeals that waste time of those having to do log checks (which was a big issue before). There are still only a few people who can handle appeals regardless because they signed the NDA contract.

You need to sign a NDA to access console, however there is very personal information that can not be handled by just anyone. There are few staff members who have signed it. Appeals aren't accepted by what they wrote; they can write an essay saying that they're not cheating, but if the logs show they are cheating, then they're not going to be unbanned.

As for blacklist appeals, if they're guilty then they're they're kept up for a reason. Otherwise they just need to wait until it is reviewed.

From my experience,I've never accessed any information that required an NDA when dealing with appeals and reports. Unless it's buycraft related, which I understand.

Hiring more staff would help solve the problem, because the staff team is pretty undermanned right now. If you require them to sign an NDA, that's fine, but more staff would definitely help. A lot of people are complaining having to wait weeks or months (not sure how accurate those figures are) to hear back from the team.

Why do you need console access to review something like combat hack appeals? The majority of appeals and reports can be handled without touching logs.
You don't need to review the logs if it's obvious that a player was or wasn't hacking.

Sorry for all the questions, or if I'm appearing critical. I'm genuinely trying to understand. From what I can see, the process looks complicated and unnecessarily convoluted.

Invaded runs different due to Neon handwriting most of the code, your "experience" is irrelevant to the fact of why the NDA is in place

If a player claims they were false banned in their appeal, then we have to go through logs to see if they were actually false banned. If the logs shows they are hacking, then we deny the appeal. Higher staff needs console access to actually find this information. We do not get to see every single player who gets banned, so these staff members need to go through the logs.

You need console access because you have to be able to see what warnings the player was tripping that lead up to the punishment, this can conclude whether the punishment was worthy or false.

They already had staff application season, I pretty much think it's enough members.
