I have joined the server almost 1 year ago but when I check on my profile it says i joined 3 months ago. Does this mean I joined the server or registered 3 months ago because I know for a fact I was first online at least 8 months ago.

It means when you registered for the forums. If you want to check when you first joined, you can ask a staff.
