How do you get back mob spawners?

(I apologise in advance if I sound dumb, I'm just confused)

On my island we have a chicken spawner. I want to move the spawner to somewhere else. On the store it says Legend rank can, "Silk touch mine all spawners". So, I went to go and mine it, but I just lost the spawner. Do you also need a silk touch book too? I've already lost 1 spawner to this. Please somebody explain this to me as I don't want to lose another spawner. If I need to I'll just move the thing I'm making to another spot. All help appreciated!

You need to have legend rank and above to mine a spawner (with silk touch) if you have Legend or below or if you have no rank, no silk touch, it will break and you lost it forever.
