Need help with spawners

So me and my friend just made a chicken grinder, how long will it take for the chickens to start producing eggs? None have spawned so far and it's been around 5 minutes/

I don't know I don- I mean... I play skyblock they don't go fast as you think... phew that was close.

Have you tried:
-Putting grass as the ground
-Adding light
-Placing the spawner
This should make it work

I'll try the first two, i'm not that much of a minecraft noob that i can't place spawners lol.

Chickens need grass. They won't spawn on anything else.

we've managed to fix this now!
