/Nick perms are a privilege and should be treated as such.

/Nick perms are a privilege and should be treated as such.

I'm going to preface this by saying that this is probably going to stir some controversy. Try to hear me out on this one.

I find it highly ridiculous that players with a history of toxicity and mutes can hide behind a /nick and bully other players without punishment. It is so easy to nick as something, type a message and either remove the nick or change it right away so that /realname will not detect who the person actually is, and staff will not accept a player report without /realname evidence. Having /nick perms on any of the 3 servers is a privilege that only a certain amount of people have, and abuse of that privilege should be handled much more severely than it currently is.

My first suggestion is pretty harsh, but I feel that it is justified. If you get muted for toxicity/threats, it results in an immediate removal of /nick perms - no questions asked. A trend that I have noticed is the people who are going to abuse nick perms on other players are the ones that have already been punished in the past for making threats or being overly toxic. So removing their nick perms would make it so that if they were to be toxic again, it would show up in chat under their IGN and they can't be saved by the fact that no one is able get /realname evidence to make a report.

My second suggestion is slightly more lenient, but would be somewhat of an inconvenience to players who aren't bullying others using their nicks. Having a cooldown on /nick (I was thinking anywhere from 5-15 minutes) where once you made a nick, you can't remove or change it for that amount of time, allowing people to see that player's IGN before they have a chance to change the nick. Obviously for people that don't abuse /nick, this would probably be frustrating, but it's another solution to a very serious problem on the server.

Ultimately, I don't think that bullying, harassment, death threats should be tolerated at all on this server, and while the staff are doing their best to enforce this, it is not acceptable that /nick is a loophole for people to get away with these offenses. Feel free to completely disagree with my ideas, or suggest solutions of your own :)
Could be resolved by recording all past used nicknames and/or putting delays to the nick. I'll message Neon.

I feel like most people don't even know that they have perms to do /nick and also admins and staff can see their real name (i think I am not too sure) and will mute nicked players again and most of the time it doesn't even matter because if you are being toxic you won't like avoid the mute it is muting the player even if muted or maybe I'm just confused because I had a hard time reading this

Great idea. sounds like the staff are already on it.
