There are multiple ways to fix your issue:

1. if you want the whole chat to be gone, enter the command /tgc, however this will mean you can’t talk to your friends

2. Execute the /ignore command on said IGN(s) and it will mute them (not sure if it’s just messages though)

3. just privately message your friend instead of talking in public chat.
