im about to leave, but I need to give my buddy perms. what command does this?

If you want to remain the leader of the island but want your friend to be able to work on the island while you are offline, do /is invite. /is makeleader gives complete ownership of your island to your friend, so unless you want that, inviting him should do the trick.
