Florida softshell, aquatic reptile, *does* bite but tends to shy away instead. All turtles carry salmonella and have a 90% contact rate through skin (especially broken skin), but can be washed off with soap and warm water ^^ If you do want to help smaller turtles like this cross the road; take it in the direction it was facing and hold it like a sandwich.
!! Always check if it has webbed feet! If it doesn't, it's a tortoise and does not belong in aquatic habitats !!
