Someone explain how chicken spawners work

I’m about yo buy one but can someone tell me all the info i need to know maybe some tips and tricks ya know

put grass near it and make sure there's light they will start spawning, also if you buy more (which you should) put it on the block NEXT to the spawner and it will stack
