Spawn eggs -- bug or feature?

I'm not the richest player, so I decided to grind using a traditional pig breeding farm. I had 3 pig spawn eggs; placed two immediately in my about 10x8 fenced in area. One of them disappeared. I thought I placed them too quick, so I used the third one a few minutes later. Just like the first, it disappeared immediately. I re-logged, still gone.
I need to know if it's possible to make a pig breeding farm with spawn eggs. Does the plug-in that fucks with animals make this sort of thing impossible?

I think it's impossible because they stack.

use public grinders, and then save up for spawners.

you can bread stacked sheep etc. (wit a number and a x over there heads) but the babys will stack too and when grown up add to the adult stacked animal
