Approximately half a month ago, the Survival server officially completed it's typical 6 month cycle without a reset.
This thread was written simply to address some of the additions and changes, as well as tackle some questions for those of you who are not familiarized with the concept of "full server resets" already.
When will the server be reset?
We plan on resetting the server on Saturday, March 27nd 2021 @ 2 PM EST, however the server will be whitelisted until then, starting Friday, March 21st 2021 @ 4 PM EST. The reason we whitelist for such a long period of time before fully re-opening the server is because we need time to properly move over new content & changes, as well as to verify everything is fully functioning and in working order before launching the server.
( Click here for a countdown until the reset )
What will be reset?
- Player Inventories
- Ender Chests
- Vaults
- Auction House
- Claims & Claim Blocks
- Balance
- Reclaims
Version Upgrade
The server will now run on an entirely different version of Minecraft compared to the other servers on the network at this current moment in time. Not only will this allow most if not all players using newer versions above 1.8.9 onto the server (might not be enabled on the day of reset rather following it soon after), it gives us a lot more freedom to expand in terms of content. Think of this as a stepping stone for us, letting us utilize cool new mechanics & such from newer versions for updates.
Everything up until 1.12.2 items / mechanics etc. will be implemented (other than the new PvP mechanics), all blocks / items will be substituted on older versions (e.g. an Acacia Boat on 1.12.2 will appear as a regular boat for those on 1.8.9 due to there being only one type).
PvP
You will now be able to PvP within the actual Survival world rather than having to go to the warp to do so.
Regardless of what claim you are on, you will have the option of enabling PvP with a command (/pvp toggle) and as long as your target player also has PvP enabled, you will be able to engage in combat with them & anyone who has it enabled may engage in combat with you.
Players cannot disable PvP/log off while in combat etc. similar to KitPvP in order to prevent combat logging.
This particular mechanic was implemented this way rather than simply having "toggle-able PvP for claims" as it could be easily abused by those with power over the claim.
Claim Moderation & Extras
With this reset, comes the implementation of the highly requested feature of claim moderation.
You are now able to "kick" and "ban" players from your claim, more specifically:
Kicking (/claim kick <player>) will result in the target player within your claim being sent to spawn, however they still have the ability to come back and enter your claim.
Banning (/claim ban <player>) will result in the target player within your claim being sent to spawn, and will no longer be able to enter any of your claims until the ban is lifted (/claim unban <player>).
You can also view the list of players currently banned from your claim using /claim banlist.
Along with this, you may now chat with everyone in the same claim in a separate chat channel, this is referred to as "claim chat" (/claim chat <message> or simply /claim chat to toggle). This feature will allow for easier socialization with those in your claims however all the same communication rules apply as they would in global chat.
Some other minor changes to claims & general mechanics are listed below:
- Claims now decay. If you are offline for a minimum of 2 months you will lose ownership of your claim and it'll become a part of the Wilderness which anyone can claim as their own.
- You can now transfer ownership of claims from player to player, you may do this using /transferclaim <player>.
- Randomized enchants have been removed, they will now be completely 1.12.2 based.
A critical feature we unfortunately couldn't re-enable last reset due to potential exploits with the economy was Chest Shops.
With this reset, it'll be making a return and hopefully be fully functional throughout the entirety of the season.
The syntax for these shops is as follows:
Line 1 - *Empty*
Line 2 - Quantity
Line 3 - "B <Price>" for BUY | "S <Price>" for SELL (You may do both by separating it with a colon)
Line 4 - Item Name
Future Plans
We plan on giving Survival content updates throughout it's cycle before another full reset, there are several things that will be worked on dependent on community requests. Any aspect of gameplay could be changed.
End of thread
Not everything changed or added was stated in this thread, only some of the largest changes/additions just to keep this thread clean & interesting.
