Survival, is too easy for it to be classed as survival, with the version the game is in 'Survival' is outdated. Builders on the server are forced into using older blocks with less variety. There aren't enough natural spawning mobs either. Updating Survival to a newer version would fix this however. More variety of mobs can spawn, if the server was updated to, lets say 1.16, players would have alot more to do, like locate and loot Bastions, trading with piglins and maybe even allow claims in the end and Nether, so they aren't griefed to a point where it is pointless going there, maybe with the exception of the Ender Dragon island. This would also not only give us access to features of the Nether update, but also Village and Pillage, Update Aquatic and everything else after 1.8.9. Staff team please consider this, I have talked to others about what this thread contains and they'd also like to see survival on an updated version.

I wholeheartedly agree. I've found myself often very limited by 1.8.9's lack of blocks, including the new slabs and stairs from 1.14, and many others.

This 100 times over, theres a good number of reasons why it isn't on the most recent version of minecraft. It isn't just as simple as upgrading your client version of MC.
It is however fairly easy to at least have a 1.15.2 survival server.

I'll be honest I'm pretty out of the loop on the tech side of servers these days, would you be able to connect to a 1.15.2 server using a 1.8.9 client that you use to connect to Kit? Are all the plugins that the server currently uses compatible with 1.15.2?

As the saying goes "Don't fix what isn't broken"

There is a plugin, called ViaBackwards, that allows for versions earlier than the one on the server to connect. ViaVersion allows instead for newer versions to connect. I believe using ViaBackwards with ViaRewind allows players 1.7.x to 1.16.x to connect to any server version, 1.8.x to 1.16.x. The first time I ever saw bees was in 1.14.4 on BBH's server, that was instead updated to 1.15.1.

Fair enough, if that fully works and is compatible with everything invaded currently offers then I wouldn't be opposed to it.

I think I'm one of those people who doesn't always like change when I'm happy with what I currently have, I remember been annoyed when a server I used to play on updated to 1.3!

Like another person said, there's a lot of reasons why it hasn't been updated. A newer version means new bugs that need to be fixed, new plugins that need to be checked, players complaining no matter what decisions you make, taking too long, LOTS of game-breaking bugs, etc. It would take a lot of time for them to make it a newer version, and it probably wouldn't even be able to be 1.16 because it's too new. I feel like if they took the time to update it to a new version, people would be mad about change and complain that reset isn't happening quickly enough. I think that Survival is relatively fine now, but of course, some other kinds of updates/changes to keep it fresh would still be great

he spitting facts at least up to 1.15.2 it isn't as difficult as the more new 1.16 which is still sometimes glitchy for many servers. sure, there are bugs, but there are still lot's of bugs with 1.8, or at least this 1.8 server, and 1.15 has been out long enough that most bugs have been dealt with for the version, maybe its this just server idk. the servers can update individually so you wouldn't have to even change kit or anything.

you could as skycade proves this.

I see where you are coming from and I completely agree! In fact this comment has made me change my mind that maybe it would be best for 1.16 to get a few patches first, before moving onto it. (hint hint Season 5??)

tbf 1.3 from what I heard is one of the worst versions of minecraft on terms of how it runs.
