Making a Thread on the Forums

Hello Everyone,

I would like to elaborate on the guidelines and process for making a thread on each sub-category as lately players have been mistaken and mislead about what is right and what isn't, and I think this needs some clarification.

What is the purpose of the forums?

The forums are here for players to come together and discuss topics related to InvadedLands and everything else associated with it.

To make player reports if there is a member of the server, discord, or forums that are breaking the given rules.

A platform for people who want to help the community actually take that step to make a difference.

It's a place to ask questions and get answers for quite literally anything InvadedLands related.

To grow in community with one another and get to know people better.

Administration

This section of the forums is used for the Staff Team (Admin+) to post messages for the community, whether that be announcements, guides, or rules. These sections are typically locked from player being able to comment on them as they are there solely to state a message, and not intended for a reply.

announcements.PNG

Here you will find all the information you need related to the server, whether that be reset information, staff application announcements, or information related to the Forums. There isn't much here to worry about, but if you need the latest updates about the server, you will find them here. @TehNeon typically makes most announcements here.

imortant.PNG

Here you will find topics such as:
--------------------------------------------------
Network Rules
Staff Application Guidelines
Allowed Clients/Mods List
Instructions on how to issue a report

--------------------------------------------------
This section of the forums is pretty self explanatory, come to this section if you need to know how to do any of these things. This again is not a section where players can leave input/reply to.

Community Discussion

Here is where most ALL community discussion takes place. This is the place where you are free to talk with one another on threads, converse with each other about pretty much anything as long as it follows some simple guidelines. A thread can be locked if it doesn't meet the guidelines for the specific category. Treads also will be moved if placed in the wrong category (e.g. placing a thread talking about your day in General Discussion.)

Here you will find topics such as:
------------------------------------------
General Discussion
Introductions & Farewells
The Infamous "Off-Topic" Section

------------------------------------------

gen discuss.PNG

This category is for players to place any InvadedLands related discussion in.

In this section, you will be able to find and post stuff about:

The Discord, The Forums, Server Updates, The Community , The Staff (in a positive manner of course)

Suggestions (recommended these are placed in the InvadedLands Player Council Discord, but us councillors can always take your suggestions in for you)

Reasons why a Thread in General Discussion may be locked/requested to lock:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Being toxic for no reason.
2) Post-Boosting.
3) Creating threads about bans/blacklists/mutes.
4) Recklessly tagging staff in threads to get attention.
5) Making threads in the wrong section.
6) Question has already been answered.
7) Causing a disruption in the community.
8) Making threats towards other players or staff.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

intro.PNG

Here is a place where you can REALLY get to know the people in this community! Feel free to introduce yourself here, tell us a bit about yourself, connect with one another, and grow friendships! This is the best place to truly get yourself out there.

You can also instate your departure from the server. As sad as it is to see people go, we have this section so players have an opportunity to make closing remarks about their time on the server as well as recognize others. You can also announce breaks here as well although if it's only going to be for a couple weeks, it is recommended to refrain from doing that as it could lead to confusion.

off topic'.PNG

Oh boy... This section is the main reason I have come to make a guide on how to use the forums so PAY ATTENTION!!

Questions to consider when posting in Off-Topic:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is what I am saying offensive or interrogative in any way towards anyone?
Am I saying anything on here that would get me muted in-game?
Am I saying anything that would get my thread locked?
Is what I am about to post already a topic in Off-Topic?
Am I making too many meaningless comments on a thread?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you answer yes to any of these, chances are you are breaking a rule, and even though it is "Off-Topic" it doesn't mean it is unfiltered and raw, rules still have to be obeyed, the only exception is being able to talk about stuff unrelated to InvadedLands.

Server Discussion

The Server Discussion section is a place to make threads about SPECIFIC gamemodes on InvadedLands. You can feel free here to ask any questions, address any concerns, make a statement regarding the gamemode, discuss plans on the server, and even take polls!

These three gamemodes include in this category of the forums are:

KitPvP | SkyBlock | Survival

Keep in mind when posting here that what is being posted is SPECIFICALLY related to that server or else it will be moved to it's appropriate category, requested to be moved by a player to be locked/being locked by staff, or even possibly DELETED. This isn't a place to make threads about you getting banned on that SPECIFIC server either, regardless of the category under no circumstances is making a post about your ban/blacklist/mute allowed.

Support & Reports

This is one of the most important sections of the forums when it comes to actually getting help. If you need help with anything, coming here first to seek help is your best bet. You can get in contact with staff about a bug, a purchase or payment issue, or report a player.

buggg.PNG

Found a bug on the server, forums, or discord and need to report it? Well this is the place to come. Reporting it here is the most effective and efficient way to made a bug report. Our developer @TehNeon will try to get back to you as soon as possible if it is a legitimate bug, but since he is only one person, it can sometimes take a bit. Just be patient, and don't abuse the glitch! A lock can also be requested on a Bug Report if the bug has already been addressed/fixed.

rgbashtrbvaegb.PNG

When reporting a player, refer to the the Network Rules when making the report, and follow the format given. Making false reports/creating false evidence can lead to your access to creating reports terminated.

Player Reports are private, meaning the only people who can see these are you and staff. This is to prevent any conflicts with other for you reporting them. Don't be scared to make a report! By doing so, you are helping not only the community but the staff.

Need to make a player report? Click here.

commutntiy jhelp.PNG

Community Help is a place for players to come and help one another out in a direct way. Explain the issue, and get some input from the community. Players are typically the ones that answer these as staff try to let the players give advice, but once a thread is opened, a lock is typically requested from staff.

You are probably going to get the fastest responses here, as not MANY threads are made here, and it's all player based support. Not that it's a bad thing to get help from the community, but most questions can typically be answered by the experienced ones in the player-base.

Same general rules for thread creation apply to community help as do for General Discussion.

purchese.PNG

This is the last section in the Support & Report forums, and is often overlooked. Coming here about an issue with a purchase is the best way to go, messaging staff on Discord/Forums would result in you being redirected to the Purchase Support page.

@ApexWasabi has made a detailed guide about how to get help with a purchase. Click here if you would need more information about how to make a support request for purchases.

REMEMBER: Store-bought items are NON-REFUNDABLE and refunding any of the items in the store can result in your account being blacklisted.

Applications & Appeals
This section of the forums has four main parts, each process is a bit different, but the one thing to keep in mind with any of these parts is patience. Whether you are appealing for a mute, ban, blacklist or applying for builder/staff. Asking staff to check any of the posts you make in these areas can lead to an extended waiting period or even a denial.

Staff Applications

Staff applications are currently CLOSED and reopen around the end of every season (roughly 6 months). These threads are all private, and only you and the staff can see an application. @ApexWasabi has made a detailed thread about applying for staff that you can find here.

Builder Applications

These applications are open to the public to view, so anyone can see what you are applying with. Builder's are few and far since a good bit of the current staff are builders, so if you are trying to apply for Builder, make sure you actually look at the other applications and are able to determine if you are able to bring something to the table that will set you apart from the rest of the competition.

If you fail to meet any requirement for this application you will instantly be denied without specific reasoning. To create a Builder Application, click here.

Ban Appeals

All ban appeals are private as well, only you and staff can see a ban appeal. You can also use the ban appeal section to appeal for a mute appeal. Anything that has a set time was set by a staff member and was justified. If you feel like your perm mute was unjustified, you can click here and appeal.

Do not ask staff to prioritize your appeal as it can result in an instant denial. When appealing, if you plead "No, I'm NOT guilty", chances are you will be waiting longer than if you were to admit. Not to say you should plead guilty, the reason why this is the case is because logs most of the time have to be checked and only three staff members can log check.

Blacklist Appeals

Last, but certainly not least the Blacklist Appeal. If you were blacklisted from InvadedLands you can appeal it here. Typically most people are blacklisted for chargeback or mute/ban evading. Doing any of those will result in an INSTANT blacklist as the staff have ways of checking if you actually tried to attempt doing so. Follow the format and answer honestly for your best chance of being accepted.

REMINDER: You CAN be blacklisted for other reasons than mentioned above, it is up to staff to decide what is actually blacklistable, so make sure to read the Network Rules to ensure you don't violate anything that could potentially result in a blacklist.

Conclusion

If you have made it this far in the thread, I would like to applaud you, you have now learned how the ins/outs of how the Forums work. I hope this was helpful to everyone as it was defiantly helpful for me to go through this all again. All of this information comes from personal experience & knowledge, other guides & threads, or Network Rules.

This took me about 6 hours give or take considering I was doing it throughout the day to make sure I read over other threads and compiled something that was true and made sense, as well as being easy to comprehend.

Always feel free to reach out to the Staff Team/Community for advice or help, that is what the forums are here for.

I agree with most stuff on here and it's a good guide as in well made.

Things that I don't necessarily agree with.
Is what I am saying offensive or interrogative in any way towards anyone?
I'm not quite sure what you mean with interrogative. It's okay for people to ask questions to other people assuming it's not in a negative way. Interrogative doesn't always mean bad.

Am I making too many meaningless comments on a thread
This is very vague and too easily swayed by personal opinion. What might be meaningless to you might be meaningful to the poster. Of course there are obvious posts that are meaningless but not all. I think you agree with me but It may be good to give some practical examples to make the statement less general/vague.

3) Creating threads about bans/blacklists/mutes.
Creating threads about them is allowed if you're not being toxic, if you're not complaining about anti cheat or being extremely negative towards staff or if you just want to share with the community that you're banned now. These threads should only be locked if the player asked how long an appeal takes and if that question has been answered or if the thread has turned toxic.

Do not ask staff to prioritize your appeal as it can result in an instant denial.

Lastly but not least this is the one I most disagree with. While it's technically not false it is very misleading. As I've mentioned in another thread where I @'d you. The only times this will actually happen if you spammed staff and spammed threads about looking at your appeal. This will never happen if you make one thread about it. They'll never instant deny based on one thread. Even if you spam you'll get warned by staff that you should stop. So while saying that it can result in an instant denial is true, it implies that you're not allowed to speak at all about why you're appeal hasn't been looked at which isn't true.

uhhhhhh i stopped reading your responses like last week lol, also big rip cause apex is removing all the comments on this thread later :/
And you said you were good at taking feedback lol. But alright ignore my advice. Not a good quality for future staff though.

Not ignoring I am sorry. Everything you have said has become repetitive. Also no point in arguing if the messages are just going to be deleted. Also I made a promise to Zelkam and Apex I would be changing how I go about responding on the forums, so this is simply a part of it all. I don't need to respond back to you.

Maybe I wouldn't have to repeat myself if you wouldn't be stubborn or gave me good reasons why I'm wrong. There is a point lol? I don't care if this remains here or not but I'd think I made good points about what was wrong in the post and that you should change it to be more accurate/ less vague. But hey if you're not able to even consider you might be wrong that's fine. The post is generally good and I only disagreed with small things. But you didn't read it so you wouldn't know lol.

Yes you don't need to respond that's fine. But it's always a good thing to take all perspectives into mind. There are also ways of discussing that aren't the same as being toxic/ making conflict. Was just trying to give feed back.

I was just trying to explain this to Emboxity, but you guys simply don't understand. You guys to me are strangers. If I am being honest I have no clue who you are. I am not going to take advice from a person I don't know, who I have never interacted with other than arguing on the forums when I am being told the COMPLETE opposite by current staff I am friends with. They tell me not to listen to you guys and to not care. I really don't and that is why I have no motivation to argue with you guys because you guys simply to me are "strangers". Just someone else that I cross paths with when crossing the sidewalk. Who would you take advice from, the current staff of InvadedLands who have already experienced it all, or a person you don't know who has never even been a trainee, more or less even apply for the position. Same things go for the forums, I have been told by them to just not listen to you. I talk to them all the time about it, I get the advice I need and if there was an issue with the person I am, they would say something. But they haven't.
Ok I'll make this my final reply then. While it seems logical to only listen to your friends or trustees this can cause you to fall into an echo chamber where you only hear what you want to hear. This is why it's important to consider all perspectives. This doesn't mean you should listen to everything anyone says. But if you're not able to argue against it or to hold your point then maybe your point wasn't that solid anyways. It's not because I wasn't a Trainee or even tried applying for moderation position that I shouldn't be able to discuss what the forum rules are and what is and what isn't allowed? Also I don't think being a trainee or a mod is all that hard to be honest. I'm not quite sure why you put so much value into being it. I would never go for it because it seems a waste of time in my eyes. This doesn't mean that I think less of it, it's just not for me. This doesn't discredit me as someone being able to reason. If you think lowly of everyone that doesn't go for this position then that doesn't bode well for your personality. The fact that you would ignore peoples perspectives (when they're not hostile) implies that you feel this way.

Finally while I agree with staff that you shouldn't listen to the people that are explicitly toxic towards you, I've never tried to personally attack you. But I do disagree with you a lot and the way you handled responses make you seem full of yourself / arrogant. <- first time I said something negative about you and not what you posted.

I don't care to continue talking with you. I am sorry, it isn't mean, it isn't folding, whatever you want to call it. I am just simply tired of wasting my time and energy into going in circles, for literally no reason at all. If I fail, I fail. If I get denied, I get denied. It' my choices, my life. It isn't like what I do anyways is necessarily bad. You guys just don't agree with it. I didn't see you guys making threads about anyone else trying to give them advice when they were going for staff.
