What is the normal time for items to despawn?

I died with 5 stacks of iron golem spawners and I went back to get my loot back and it was just gone. I did not have claim pickups on in the claim. I was only away for 3 minutes. The chunks were loaded though because I had an someone afking there.

When i used to die i would take like 20+ minutes to get back and my items would still be there but nowadays i see tons of ppl complaining about items despawning too fast. So i think they might have changed something so that the rate at which items despawn is higher to prevent lag

It is random Red. It can even happen right after you drop it. Based on luck tbh.
