Why does 1.12 stuff not work even though i'm in 1.12

Which server? Because Skyblock is 1.8 if I read correctly, so even if your client is updated, the server isn't so you won't be able to get the new blocks.

Skyblock is 1.12

Combat mechanics and similar are 1.8 still, but there should be all the new blocks up to 1.12.2

I'm talking about the new blocks from 1.12, they don't show up even when I switch my client to 1.12 (I was playing on 1.8 before so maybe that affected it? something?)

They don't show up in the shop or ingame even in 1.12, but only for invaded, when I join any other server I can use the 1.12 blocks
