Why mods should be paid instead of managers

Why mods should be paid instead of managers

Everyone who applied to moderate on Invaded applied under the knowledge that this was a voluntary position, not a paid one. We do this for the benefit of the community, the friendships we make, and our own enjoyment and experience. Adding in funds would cause a lot of issues such as unwanted competition between staff, people applying solely for the money incentive, and disputes about who gets paid what; not everyone works the same and that would certainly be a factor. We staff here for fun, while you may see it as unfair, we see it as an opportunity for us to meet people, have fun, and just mess around. I've met some great people on here who I will quite literally hop in calls with at 3am just because I enjoy talking to them that much, that's what we get out of this.

this man here is a legend why isn't he a senior mod he is so epic he is amazing

how could we not love harry tho? hes so active, unvanishes and engages with the player base :D harry is a true manager and friend.

While being paid for being a staff member and working hard would feel rewarding, it's not the best idea. The whole idea of staffing is to volunteer yourself to help others in the community. If management starts to pay mods, then people will simply apply because they would get paid; not because they want to help others, which will potentially drop the quality of trainees and candidates they'd get. I do believe some high ranked staff such as admins being paid won't be a bad idea due to what they do (Judging from the information I know back when I was an admin), but that is not my place to say anything as I am a former admin and I have no opinions on it, nor would I demand money for the work I did as I applied and worked simply to volunteer myself for the betterment of the community.

While I agree 100% with what both of you have said here, I think the main focus of this thread (The way I interpreted it) was not to say "Mods should get paid", but rather that Cubshifter believes that managers(That get paid) are not doing a good enough job, and the mods (which don't get paid) are doing more work than them. I don't agree with this thread, however I just think that you guys misunderstood the threads intention.

As for my thoughts, I think the management team is doing an alright job, and they have more to do than just appeals. From what I understand, this IS their job, and mods are still in school and/or have jobs of their own. Zelkam does appeals, but is invisible on the forums, just look, he has more messages than most everyone on the forums. Mega works on server development and staff management and never really does appeals. And Harry out right said that he was going to be focusing on purchase supports first before doing appeals. Neon cares about the server, but he is also involved in other servers. Neon personally helped me with some issues with my sky block island.

And you don't get priority in appeals. That would be unfair to people who have not paid. That is like you saying "I know Walmart isn't open at 4 am, but you need to let me shop right now because I have bought many things at Walmart before!"

Its more like: why tf is there people waiting in line for months when all the cashier needs to do is take off Idot tags... Shoulda gone to Walgreens!

as much as mod do deserve pay i don't think the server would raise enough money also if they where paid wouldn't everyone wanna be a mod because of pay rather than helping the community? :/ but say there where payed and its staff recurrent season it would be hard to tell if the player wants to be staff for just the pay and not doing there job rather than being a mod now with no pay.

I have spent over $200 on the invaded lands network and not once has a manager helped me in any sort of way. After months of experience on this server, I came to realize how unhelpful managers have been in claim griefs, payment issues, and blacklist appeals.
Why should we be giving money to people who disregard their customers troubles?
This is a business run by careless, money reaping, power hungry individuals with no respect for their customers.
I am unable to play on a server in which I payed over $200 for because the person I gave my money to won't read an appeal. If Moderators (who arent even getting payed) have the time to read and escalate a blacklist appeal, then why cant someone who is getting payed take action? oh I forgot, they are busy reaping the rewards of their victimized customers :)
pay2win isn't pay4priority. Nobody forced you to pay money, and so although they do get tons of money, it doesn't necessarily make them greedy, because people are paying money because they enjoy it, not because managers asked them to. imo nobody should be paid, cuz money would just worsen the situation, as bad as it is already, and cause too much conflict between staff for them to handle. They volunteered to sign up and help the community, not as a job, but as a fun side activity to help one of their favorite servers. As ppl already said, the managers weren't doing the best, but that's why they hired harry, who's a lot more active and easier to communicate with.

No one who applied did so thinking "GOTTA GET THOSE RACKS".

We all love the community and are happy to help. Speaking personally, I'm fine just doing what I can to help (even as a trainee).

Also to the person who said I was "paid in fame", not once did I ever go into this thinking "OMG IM GEtITING STAFF NOW ILL BE FAMOUS!" no. If more people know who I am, I want it to be because people are okay with approaching me with problems they need help with. I'm not looking to "get famous", I simply want to do the job I was trusted to do to the best of my ability.
