well invaded lands was supposed to be a kitpvp server so that explains why skyblock and survival is in 1.8

it's bc most mc servers are on 1.8, they probably have better access to their plugins, less glitches on the server, etc etc it's just in general the go-to version everywhere i think

most survival servers are on 1.15 and above but i agree with your second part, its a lot easier to get plugins and less glitches

i mean theres a lot less to do(less mobs, less blocks to be creative, less items) and actually a lot of glitches, some of which are only on this server and its custom settings but its simpler i guess and a better combat system although this specific server has absolutely no pvp.

Invadedlands is a bungee-cord server, so they can make their gamemodes different versions. Pretty much use multiple servers to form one big server.

that is very true but for some reason I just like using 1.8.9 i honestly dont know why lol

I prefer newer versions. Munchy for example has survival on 1.15.2 and Kit on 1.8.9 I believe, and it works great.
