Now, this all starts with a claim by tehneon where he mentions that the clearlag plugin is used to inprove player fps, not the performance of the server. This isn't entireley true nor entireley false, but I do think that the amount of items on the ground & the amount of players on does affect the performance or atleast the network performance.

The clearlag plugin has a feature called cleartask which clears all the ground items ever five minutes. The difference between that and the default minecraft despawn rate is the fact that the minecraft one deletes items 5 minutes after the item has been dropped, whereas the cleartask clears all the items every 5 minutes.

Because many people don't know about the pickupfilter, the items on the floor are not that bad. However, the server has enabled the limiter to limit the amount of entites.

So I just said some random facts, and what I'm trying to say is that the clearlag is better for server performance and they should use or code a plugin that lets you hide items. There is already a plugin called FPSHelper (paid plugin btw) which lets u toggle the visibilty of items. It would be a wayy better antifps lag method than clearlag

Ground items dont affect network performance. They do, infact effect player performance/fps. This is due to the textures each having to be loaded which takes a lot of RAM and will cause performance issues. Also in vanilla minecraft, all items loaded in a chunk will be permanently deleted in 5 minutes. Not just 1 item. Kitpvp has it set up so when a specific amount of time or items are dropped or passed then all ground items will disappear. By the way if you can not see items on the ground, how are you able to loot?

it used more cpu where it could have been used somewhere else

By making smth like the pickup filter and only see some items. Yeahh, ram isn't that important. When it runs out of memory it freezes for the garbage collector to run. Also it most likely doesn't work that way because it's extremely inefficient to load the same texture for every item entity.

The game doesnt freeze when running out of ram on most games. Most games it would use all memory and only load stuff in that memory. Plus more ram equals less chance of minecraft freezing. I agree rho that pickupfilter should hide those items

You contradicted yourself in the same post lol. Also idc about other games' memory management, we're talking about minecraft's.

I mean MC is a pretty cpu-intensive game, so adding an item filter would def improve your fps

"Most games" as in minecraft isnt one.

Well I'm like never getting less than 200ms, but I don't think that is the servers problem, I't's just where I live but +1.
