I'm going to preface this by saying that this is probably going to stir some controversy. Try to hear me out on this one.

I find it highly ridiculous that players with a history of toxicity and mutes can hide behind a /nick and bully other players without punishment. It is so easy to nick as something, type a message and either remove the nick or change it right away so that /realname will not detect who the person actually is, and staff will not accept a player report without /realname evidence. Having /nick perms on any of the 3 servers is a privilege that only a certain amount of people have, and abuse of that privilege should be handled much more severely than it currently is.

My first suggestion is pretty harsh, but I feel that it is justified. If you get muted for toxicity/threats, it results in an immediate removal of /nick perms - no questions asked. A trend that I have noticed is the people who are going to abuse nick perms on other players are the ones that have already been punished in the past for making threats or being overly toxic. So removing their nick perms would make it so that if they were to be toxic again, it would show up in chat under their IGN and they can't be saved by the fact that no one is able get /realname evidence to make a report.

My second suggestion is slightly more lenient, but would be somewhat of an inconvenience to players who aren't bullying others using their nicks. Having a cooldown on /nick (I was thinking anywhere from 5-15 minutes) where once you made a nick, you can't remove or change it for that amount of time, allowing people to see that player's IGN before they have a chance to change the nick. Obviously for people that don't abuse /nick, this would probably be frustrating, but it's another solution to a very serious problem on the server.

Ultimately, I don't think that bullying, harassment, death threats should be tolerated at all on this server, and while the staff are doing their best to enforce this, it is not acceptable that /nick is a loophole for people to get away with these offenses. Feel free to completely disagree with my ideas, or suggest solutions of your own :)

Having a cool down is a great idea but having the perm completely removed after one mute won’t work. So many false mutes happen so people will be pretty pissed about getting nick perms removed.

Yeah the reason I suggested that was because that would definitely solve the problem, but I agree that it would most likely result in people losing nick perms for no reason and leave a lot players frustrated. Thanks for the input!

Orr. They can make it so that they're not allowed to use /nick (or /enick) while they are muted. That won't get anyone mad. Also you can /realname the 1st letter/number and it'll show their real name

A lot of these ideas are great! I would love to see these in the player council. Message me for the link, I can give it to u a little later.

I like the cool down idea a lot with /nick or something where you can’t change your nick for a few seconds after interacting with someone, I'm not exactly sure how that would work but it’d be nice. Personally I’ve gone through where people nick as crappy things and /pay me and I’m not fast enough to /realname them.

First of all, I’ve been in the player council discord since it’s earliest days. Second of all, I just want to start a discussion on forums and hear other people’s opinions. I don’t need to constantly be reminded that I should take my ideas elsewhere when this is what forums are designed to do - provide a platform for discussion. Thank you for your feedback and for trying to help

We already remove /nick perms from players who abuse it, eg 'bullying'
And we require /nick in evidence so we actually know it is them as after it another random player could change to the nickname and then get the punishment.

If a player uses /nick to verbally harass you report it but if they are disrespectful in chat and it is unrelated to a different nickname why should they be punished with removal of /nick

I like the idea of a cooldown or certain filtered words.

I’m not telling u to take ur opinions elsewhere, but there isn’t a play suggestion thread for the forums. So this is not rlly the place to suggest something. If u want to see this implemented, suggest it to the council

He’s suggesting the idea to get feedback from other players and see if they have any further ideas.

+1 I like the idea of filtered words and players wouldn’t abuse the command as much.
You didn’t even read what it’s about. It’s not about filtered words. There are already filtered words. it’s about either taking away nick perms for people that abuse it, or having a cooldown on unnicking, or nicking.

Stop replying with useless things to get your posts up and trying to get #1.

It’s obvious you are trying for staff (so am I) but I remember you on the old forums and you were toxic af and you replied to well detailed, good suggestions with “K”

Big change eh?

totally agree with this all +1

the staff rules with death threats are stupid though, they only get a warning for saying it.
